Captain John Stavers (1749-1831)

Greenland and Davis Traits whaler, then farmer in Northumberland

Captain William Stavers (1765-1816)

Greenland and Davis Strait then southern whaler. Killed by a whale. Based in Rotherhithe.

 

Captain John “Japan Jack” Stavers (1783-1826)

South Sea whaler. Murdered on Guam. Based in Rotherhithe.

Captain John Reid Stavers (1789-1847)

South Sea whaler and later captain of merchantmen between London and Mauritius/Australia. Based in Stepney.

Captain Francis Stavers (c.1793-1839/40)

South Sea whaler and later captain of South Coast steam packets.

Captain Peter Mellish Stavers (1795-1870)

South Sea whaler and later East Indies merchantmen and mail/passenger vessels. Based South

London then Java and Calcutta.

Captain Thomas Reid Stavers (1798-1867)

South Sea whaler based in Deptford, then various occupations in Java.

Captain John Stavers (1822-1902)

Captain and owner of merchantmen, chiefly colliers (all sailing ships). Based in Blyth, Northumberland.

Captain George Stavers (1825-1891)

Captain and owner of merchantmen, chiefly colliers, and also passenger vessels (sail and steam). Based in Morpeth and later Enfield.

Captain William Stavers (1828-1876).

Captain of merchantman. Lost at sea in a storm off Australia. Based in Auckland.

Captain Wilkinson Stavers (1832-1864)

Captain of merchantmen. Perished when shipwrecked off Elsinore.
